MORGAN HILL — Firefighters are battling a grass fire that spurred evacuations for a neighborhood near the Chesbro Reservoir Thursday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.
The fire, which has burned 35 acres, was reported at 1:34 p.m. near Oak Glen Avenue and Llagas Road, about a quarter-mile from the reservoir west of the Morgan Hill city limits, Cal Fire Capt. Gene Parks said.
Homes near Rocky Ridge Road and Black Oak Court have been evacuated as a precaution.
“They’re working hard to stop the forward spread, and are making progress,” Parks said.
As of about 4 p.m., the fire was 30 percent contained and the forward spread had been stopped, said Cal Fire Prevention Specialist Pam Temmermand. There were no reports of any injuries or damage to structures, but the evacuation order remained in place.
